Chris Walas.... Weathered Bachmann Saddle Tank..... ![]() ![]() As far as the dents go, they were caused by Rogue County's locomotive maintenance supervisor banging his head against the tank in frustration! There's nothing tricky about doing the dents. There are actually a few of them that were obvious when I made them and have all but disappeared with the weathering. I heat the section I want to dent over a candle until it softens (it usually gets a little sheen to it) and then use a round or tube shape to press the dent in. I used two sizes of batteries to do these dents. There are a couple of smaller dents that were ground in using a dremel that I hand sanded the edges of afterward. I learned a lesson on this one and that was to make the dents even deeper than I did onthis one. Oh, well, "Bash and Learn!" I also added weight at the back to balance the model a little bit and added a Bachmann ten-wheeler sound card. I had to pull two of the sound strips off of the sound cam to get a better chuff. This engine runs very well and with PWC, it's smokes surprizingly well. I suspect the next one will get a most drastic bashing! ![]() |
