D&RG C-16 Bash - 1880 as-built

This C-16 bash is based on one of the original colour scheme used by Baldwin on their narrow gauge 2-8-0s in 1880. The Aristo C-16 was lowered to the correct height, added detail applied and then completely repainted with a dark olive green base colour. The colour scheme you see here is the actual Baldwin paint scheme used in the late 1870s to early 1880s. The model is not black, but a dark green with gold and red trim. The green paint extends to the domes, cab, headlight, bracket, tender, pilot, pilot deck, cylinders, saddle, all wheels, chassis frame and springs. The model represents D&RG class 56, #52 'Music Pass'. This is how the loco actually looked when delivered to the D&RG in 1880.
With the help of Stan Cedarleaf's decals we were able to get the lettering completed. The fancy gold red and white line work was all done using vinyl strips. The linework is a touch overscale, but the overal look of the loco is about right.
