Thank you Fletch, "The Lady Ryanne" is a fine little engine and Ryanne enjoys running her....

Despite of the excellent packing by "Fletch" the "Lady Ryanne" arrived with major damage.. Fletch said "the damage was caused by manditory inspections in transit where it is not always possible for the inspectors to return her to the box in the proper manner. Reason I say this is because I have raised this issue with folks in the US time and again (e-bay deals etc etc, for regular stuff) and time and again I get the usual diatribe about boxes packed wihin boxes, to the point where a 30cm model needs to be packed in a 10ftx10ft box, with 10 boxes inside each other, and to be frank that is still what Americans think is the secret to good transport..they'd be right if the loco were being shipped cross country by truck on a dirt road, but doing that across the Pacific with at least 2 inspections, one manditory opening, causes these inspectors to just get pissed off at the amount of unpacking and repacking and they just wont do it right. Damage can be avoided not by 100 boxes, but by tight packing, and non scratching surfaces pressed against the model, and most of all, simple fool proof packing. I had the box almost right this time, but didn't check to see what would happen if they tried to repack it with the lid around the wrong way. I should have put big red arrows on both halves of the styrene so that both faced the same way."

But after some TLC she looks and runs great......
