Ore Cars

Ore Cars - several types of cars are used by LP&GF RR to haul ore from
mines to the smelter. Shown here are 2 of the types we use the first is the Bachmann 1:20.3 side dump
ore cars and the second is wood side gondola's that started life as HLW's flat cars, they have been
heavily modified, (using popcicle sticks, metal wheels, and a few Ozark casings) in the car shops of the LP&GF RR.

Here is another view of the side dump with a couple of the HLW' flat car in the background.
The wood was roughed up using a wire wheel mounted in the drill press and then stained with a variety of
wood stains (what ever I had laying around)....
We use Kadee couplers on most of our rolling stock and on the Bachmann side dumps we used
Kadee's #789 "G" scale couplers they are notched and screwed onto the modified end beams of the
side dumps. They say a picture is worth a thousand word so here are a couple of pictures...
